INTRODUCTION
We are seeking a Head of Merchandising to lead merchandising strategy and commercial performance for a global apparel brand in Japan.
This executive position is responsible for product strategy, assortment planning, buying, inventory allocation, and cross-functional leadership across Retail, eCommerce, Outlet, Wholesale, and Licensing channels.
You will play a critical leadership role in driving profitable growth while partnering closely with Global and APAC teams to deliver locally relevant product strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead merchandising and commercial strategy across all sales channels
- Own business forecasting, pricing, assortment planning and product lifecycle management
- Manage P&L performance including sales, margin and profitability
- Analyze consumer trends and market opportunities
- Develop merchandising line plans and product strategies
- Lead Go-To-Market planning and execution
- Manage buying, assortment planning and inventory allocation
- Partner with Global and APAC teams on product development
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Retail, Marketing, CRM, eCommerce and Supply Chain
- Develop merchandising performance dashboards and business analysis
- Lead, coach and develop high-performing merchandising teams
- Manage merchandising budgets and operational expenses
REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years of merchandising or product development experience
- Retail or Fashion industry experience
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Strong apparel and textile product knowledge
- Experience in retail buying and assortment planning
- Experience working with Supply Chain, Sourcing and Marketing
- International business experience preferred
- Global or regional leadership experience preferred
